Frequently Asked Questions

Maternity
When should I book my session?
It is recommended you book your session between 4 to 8 weeks prior to your delivery date.

What should I do before the session?
I recommend having a manicure and pedicure a day or two prior to the session and making sure your hair and make up is done the day of. After all, you deserve it!

What clothing should I have for my session?
Have anything available that you are comfortable in and LOVE! Jeans are great for a casual look along with tank tops in solid colors that are fitted and stretchy. Try to avoid patterns on shirts or pants unless you really love them and they represent your true personality! An over-sized white button down man’s shirt works well. Also, fitted v-necks, square-necks, deep scoop necks, skirts and one piece dresses are all recommended.

What should I avoid doing before my session?
Please do not wear anything with elastic on your belly for a few hours prior to your session. Elastic can leave unflattering markings on your belly. Watches and other jewelry can have the same effect. Don’t forget about your feet! Tight socks can leave marks as well so consider wearing flip flops.

What should the father-to-be wear?
Men should wear jeans, khaki pants, or other dark bottoms. Ideal shirts include the following: plain white long sleeve shirts, regular white crewneck t-shirts and sleeveless tanks. Layering a button up shirt over a tee or tank is appealing. Again, anything he is comfortable in!

What should siblings wear?
For boys, I recommend solid color shirts with jeans or khakis. For girls, solid colored tops or dresses and jeans or solid colored pants. Try to avoid busy patterns on clothing as well as cartoon characters or writing.

Newborn
When should I book my newborn session?
It is recommended that you tentatively book your newborn session for the week (two weeks max) after your expected due date.  It is best to capture newborns as young as possible (birth-14 days) while they are still very sleepy and supple.

What should I do before the newborn session?
Please feed your baby before I arrive so that he or she has a full tummy.  Newborns love to be warm and cozy, but who doesn’t love those adorable photographs of a newborn in their birthday suit? Please have your babies clothes removed with just his or her diaper on wrapped warmly in a blanket.  Comfortable babies sleep, and a lot of the poses that I try with little ones look ideal with sleeping babies. No need to worry, I love awake babies, too.

What should I avoid doing before my session?
Should your newborn need immunizations (shots), please make sure your pediatrician appointment is not scheduled the same week as your session.  Babies react differently to immunizations and can become quite sore.  Unhappy babies do not photograph or sleep well.

What clothing should I have for my session?
I prefer to photograph newborns in as little clothes as possible, but feel free to lay out a few outfits that you may want him or her in. I can advise you as to what would photograph best, if you wish. Please be aware that many clothing changes may make your little one upset, so it is best to limit to one or two changes.  If you have a special blanket or fabric, I will gladly use it.

What should siblings wear?
Solid colored shirts and jeans or khakis for boys are recommended.  For girls, solid colored tops or dresses and jeans or solid colored pants.  Try to avoid busy patterns on clothing as well as cartoon characters. Siblings are welcome to join for pictures with baby at no extra charge.

What should parents wear?
I often use parents as backdrops for baby, so please wear a black top and black pants (if possible). Mom and Dad are welcome to join for pictures with baby at no extra charge.
